Mums over maunga event launched!

We are so proud to have launched our very first community event!

Mums over maunga will run on Sunday 22 September and is for mums from all walks of life who need more nature and connection in their lives.

We hope this event can be the start of a community of women who have the confidence and are inspired to get outdoors more often. All proceeds will go towards Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari.

Since launching, we've had over 50 women register their interest in joining us on this half day, 9km loop hike!

As an organisation, we support select conservation initiatives including Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari, a 3,400-protected sanctuary in the middle of the north island.

This world-class conservation project is home to many native birds including kiwi, kōkako, kākā, miromiro, kākāpō and also our very own dinosaur relative, the tuatara, a very rare reptile and the last survivors of an order of reptiles that thrived in the age of the dinosaurs.

These endangered birds are flourishing thanks to the absence of all predators in the Sanctuary. To keep them out is a huge job as the team have to monitor the 42km long perimeter fence for breaches at all times.

This hike will be led by Nature and Nosh hiking guide Kylie Rae who will share her hiking tips and tricks as well as stories from the incredible ngahere.

If you would like to register your interest for future events, visit our Facebook event page or register your interest via this page.
